Super Sagas

People compare everything to Z and I get it. But do you actually know what Super did.

Because Super came back and introduced a literal god of destruction who’s petty about food and naps. Brought back Frieza with a golden form. Gave us Hit who fights with actual strategy which Dragon Ball almost never does. And then the Tournament of Power happened and honestly nothing has been the same since.

You think Super is just Z but weaker. Take the quiz and say that again.

Battle of Gods & Resurrection F “The comeback arc that got the tone exactly right” Super starts lighter than Z ended and honestly that was the right call. Beerus is not evil he’s just incomprehensibly powerful and weirdly petty and that energy was exactly what the franchise needed after Buu. Then Frieza comes back golden and reminds everyone why he’s the most irreplaceable villain in this whole thing. Neither arc is trying to be deep. Both are just fun. And sometimes that’s enough.

Universe 6 “The arc where Dragon Ball actually let a fight be smart” Hit vs Goku is a puzzle as much as a brawl and Dragon Ball rarely does that. Hit manipulates time and actually uses strategy and it’s genuinely different from anything the show had done before. Then Future Trunks comes back and gets Zamasu as his villain — a god who decides mortals don’t deserve to exist. That motivation is unsettling in a way most Dragon Ball villains just aren’t. The ending is controversial I’m not going to pretend it isn’t. But this arc earns its place.

Tournament of Power “The best arc in the franchise. Yes including Z. I said what I said.” Eighty fighters. Eight universes. Losing universes get erased completely. And somehow every single Z fighter gets a moment that actually means something. Roshi holding his own against people who should destroy him. Android 17 quietly keeping everything together. Vegeta refusing to fall because he made a promise. And then Goku hits Ultra Instinct — silver hair, eyes gone distant, body just moving on pure reflex — and it’s the most visually stunning transformation this franchise has ever done. The final thirty seconds with Goku Frieza and 17 standing together against Jiren is Dragon Ball at its most ambitious. It delivers. Completely.
